Curriculum

Royal Tlou Primary School is registered with the North West Department of Education (NWDE) and as such the curriculum complies with CAPS (Curriculum and Assessment Policy Statement) of the National Department of Education as our minimum standards

Foundation Phase – Grades R To 3

A Grade R applicant must be four years turning five or older by 30 June the next year and an applicant for grade one must be five years and turning six or older by 30 June the next year.

Learners in this Phase follow the three main subjects: Mathematics, Literacy: Home Language and First Additional Language and Life Skills Plus Motoric Skills (MS). Included in the curriculum are extra subjects such as Computer Studies, Musical Appreciation, Sports Training and Robotics and Coding. The method of teaching is problem-solving-based and CAPS is followed as minimum standards. Some subjects have been adjusted by the Royal Tlou Excellence Centre to promote interactive learning.

Intersen Phase – Grades 4 To 7

Work in class is done according to the CAPS guidelines but have been adjusted by the Royal Tlou Primary School Excellence Centre to promote interactive learning at the highest possible standard.

Grade 4 – 6: (Intermediate phase)

Our core-curriculum covers Mathematics, English, Afrikaans, Science and Technology (including Robotics), Social Sciences, Computer Studies, Life Skills, Swahili, Setswana

Grade 7: (Senior phase)

English, Afrikaans, Mathematics, Natural Sciences, Technology, Life Orientation, EMS, Accounting, Visual Arts, Social Sciences, Computer Studies, Swahili, Setswana
